For many departments, fires in buildings equipped with a standpipe system are a low frequency high risk operation. This class will provide students with a greater understanding of standpipe systems, hydraulic theory, and typical fire conditions, and provide them with the skills to operate effectively when faced with a standpipe operation. This 8 hour delivery consist of a 4 hour lecture, followed by 4 hours of hands on standpipe operations. The lecture focuses on the types of standpipes, N.F.P.A. standards regulating standpipes, common features effecting operations, and F.D.C. operations. The hands on portion will cover supplying the standpipe, hook-up procedures, advancing & operating from the standpipe, and troubleshooting operational difficulties.
